Imo State House of Assembly has backed Governor Hope Uzodinma in his efforts to recovery government property allegedly misappropriated by immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha and his cronies.

This followed as the lawmakers also passed a vote of confidence on Uzodimma for his courage and determination to embark on the exercise and for his accomplishments during his one-year in office.

The property being disputed are, the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, now K. O. Mbadiwe University, and the Royal Spring Palm Hotels and Apartments.

Deputy Majority Leader and representative of Aboh Mbaise, Eddy Obinna, who moved the motion at plenary yesterday, accused Okorocha of milking the state dry, stressing that after his eight years in the state, the former governor left the state with no direction and definite future.

“Despite the attendant challenges and setbacks occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic that negatively affected the global economy, Uzodimma has effectively delivered good governance and kept to his campaign promises since assuming office.

“Within uncertain one year of his Prosperity Administration, the governor has remained focused and effectively delivered on Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery mantra, hence, he should be encouraged and supported to do more for Imo people,” he said.

Other lawmakers including Deputy Speaker, Amara Iwuanyanwu (Nwangele), Uju Onwudiwe (Njaba), Chigozie Nwaneri (Oru East) and Johnson Duru (Ideato North) said the governor through his achievements in office had proved his critics and oppositions wrong.

They also commended Uzodimma for ensuring transparency, accountability and equity in governance, as well as for providing infrastructure development in the state, while restating their commitment to support and cooperate with the governor to succeed.
