Group goes to court over zoning of National Assembly leadership positions |
A human rights group, Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International, has approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking an order reversing the zoning arrangement for principal officers of the incoming Ninth National Assembly adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the suit, plaintiff frowned at the zoning of the Deputy Senate President to the South-South and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to North-Central.
The plaintiff counsel, Mr. Kingdom Nnamdi, yesterday said such an arrangement offends the Federal Character Principle of Nigeria, among others.
Meanwhile, APC, the National Assembly and the Federal Character Commission were joined in the suit as first, second and third defendants respectively.
