A law firm in Lagos has called on the legal profession as well as public to embrace modern technology.

The firm, Duale, Ovia $ Alex-Adedipe (DOA) in a press conference, said technology has transformed the approach, comfort, swiftness and period with which business activities are conducted.

According to one of its partners, Adeleke Alex-Adedipe, no matter the size of an enterprise, technology has both tangible and intangible benefits that increases productivity and ease of doing business.

He said though the legal profession is known for its conservatism and traditionalism, many believe it must be preserved in order to maintain the prestige of the profession, adding that the firm has totally embraced technology in aiding the business of law.

“We realised that there is a burning need for conversations and thought leadership that can drive technological advancement and investment in Nigeria including the legal profession,” he said.

Also speaking, Soibi Ovia said Telecommunication, Media and Technology (TMT) landscape is quite broad and there is a lot of room for growth, innovation and investment in the varying technology sectors such as Fin Tech, Ad Tech, Agri Tech, Insure Tech and Edu Tech.

She added that Reg Tech, promises not only to cut the cost of compliance processes but also improves effectiveness to make compliance quicker and more reliable, thereby reducing hassle for customers and lessening the risk of costly compliance failures.

“However, for this to happen, collaboration across a number of actors is crucial, particularly across the banks, the regulators, the investors and the Reg Tech firms,” she said.
