A short clip video showing Hon. Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike publicly admiring, loving and caring for her husband, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during the 36th Combined Convocation Lecture of the University of Port Harcourt has sparked reactions on social media.

The moment occurred while Wike was delivering a lecture titled “Leadership and Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Lessons for Future Leaders” at the university’s New Convocation Arena in Choba, Rivers State.

In the viral clip, Wike was seen sweating while speaking on the podium in his ceremonial academic gown. His wife, Justice Eberechi, who was seated among dignitaries, walked up to him, brought out a handkerchief and gently wiped sweat from his face.

She also adjusted his ceremonial academic cap and appeared to whisper words of encouragement to him before returning to her seat.

The gesture drew applause and cheers from the audience, which included academics, students, political figures and other dignitaries at the event.

The video has since attracted widespread attention on social media, with many users describing the moment as a rare public display of affection by the couple. Some commentators also joked that the couple was “peppering singles,” a popular Nigerian slang used when romantic gestures make unmarried people feel left out.

Wike, during the lecture, spoke on leadership, infrastructure and national development. He argued that political will and purposeful leadership, rather than natural resources alone, determine the progress of any society.

He also reflected on his connection with the University of Port Harcourt, noting that the institution played an important role in shaping his intellectual and political journey.

The public moment between Wike and his wife also drew attention because Justice Eberechi, a judicial officer, is rarely seen in such informal public displays with the former Rivers State governor.

ASKLEGALPALACE correspondent at the event disclosed  that the couple’s relationship dates back to their days at the Nigerian Law School in the late 1990s and has remained visible through Wike’s political journey from local government chairman to governor of Rivers State and now FCT Minister.

That Wike has also demonstrated public love and strong affection towards his amiable and dogged wife.
