The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, has arraigned 17 drivers before an Ogun State Mobile Court over various traffic infractions at Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sotunde Fadahunsi, convicted the offenders with no discharge following the presentation of evidence at the Mobile Court in Ogere.

Confirming this to newsmen in Abeokuta, FRSC Public Relations Officer (PRO), Afolabi Odunsi, stated that conviction of the 17 drivers was part of the Corp’s continued efforts to enforce road discipline and ensure safety on major highways.

He said that during the proceedings, 17 offenders were arraigned for various traffic infractions.

Following the presentation of evidence and admissions of guilt, the court convicted all 17, with no discharges recorded for the day.

The Corps’ Superintendent Route Commander stated that apart from the convicts, 28 motorists were fined out of the 30 offences presented to court.

The Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, stated the stringent enforcement of traffic laws as essential to reducing road accidents and ensuring the free flow of traffic along the busy Ogere axis.

Fasakin urged motorists to remain law-abiding, as the Mobile Court would continue its operations to penalise reckless driving and statutory violations.

Relatedly, the Unit Commander, Clement Akpenwuan, an Assistant Corps Commander, said the resultant effect of disobedience to traffic laws “has multiplier effect” on families and government.
