Hon Justice Bamidele Adeleye of the Ondo State High Court has passed away, leaving a profound void in Nigeria’s judicial community. The news was confirmed on Friday in Akure by Mr. Ayodeji Akinsanya, Chief Registrar of the Ondo State High Court.

According to the statement, Justice Adeleye, who served as the presiding judge of High Court 5 in Akure, died on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The judiciary described him as a distinguished jurist, celebrated for his integrity, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to justice.

“Justice Adeleye’s departure is a great loss to the judiciary, the people of Ondo State, and Nigeria at large,” the statement read. “His years on the bench were marked by fairness, equity, and respect for the rule of law.”

Highly respected by colleagues, legal professionals, and the public, Justice Adeleye was known for his humility, erudition, and impartiality. His contributions to the judicial system and advancement of justice in Ondo State are expected to leave a lasting legacy.

The Ondo State Judiciary extended heartfelt condolences to his family, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Justice Adeleye was sworn in as a judge on September 8, 2011. Born on January 16, 1961, he previously founded the law firm Fola Adeyeye & Co. in Okitipupa, Ondo State, before his appointment to the bench.
