In a ceremony marked by solemnity and renewed commitment to institutional strengthening, the governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, yesterday swore in a new High Court Judge, two Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, newly appointed Special Advisers, and inaugurated members of the Persons Living with Disabilities Commission.
The event, held at the Exco Chamber of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, attracted top government functionaries, members of the judiciary, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other dignitaries from across the state, underscoring its significance in the state’s governance structure.
Those sworn in include Justice Mansura Bargami as Judge of the High Court, alongside Khadi Aliyu Yaya Abubakar and Khadi Yakubu Mohammed as Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
Addressing the gathering, governor Kefas described the occasion as a major milestone in his administration’s drive to strengthen the judiciary, enhance good governance, and promote inclusivity. He stressed that the juidiciary remains the bedrock of democracy and a critical pillar in sustaining peace and development.
He charged the newly sworn-in judicial officers to uphold the highest standards of justice, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their duties. According to him, public confidence in the legal system depends largely on their courage to dispense justice without fear or favour and their unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
The governor also administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Special Advisers, tasking them to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in advancing the administration’s development agenda.
He noted that their appointments were strictly based on merit and proven capacity to deliver tangible results for the people of Taraba State.
On the inauguration of the Persons Living with Disabilities Commission, Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to guarantee equal opportunities and inclusive policies for persons living with disabilities.
He emphasized that sustainable development cannot be achieved without deliberate efforts to carry every segment of society along.
The ceremony further highlighted the administration’s broader agenda of institutional reform, inclusive governance, and sustainable development across Taraba.
