The National Broadcast Academy (NBA) has admitted 110 students into its 2026 academic session as part of efforts to strengthen innovation, capacity building and productivity within Nigeria’s media sector.
Acting Director of the academy, Dr Samuel Anyanwu, who represented the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr Mohammed Bulama, urged the newly admitted students to prioritise networking, teamwork and collaboration as critical tools for success in the broadcasting profession.
He spoke during the orientation programme held at the academy’s campus in Ikeja, Lagos, stressing that broadcasting is a collective profession that depends on cooperation across departments.
According to him, students who build strong professional relationships during training stand to benefit immediately and in the long term.
“Your colleagues here today are your future professional network. The relationships you build now will open doors for you tomorrow. Learn to work together, support one another and grow as a team,” he said.
Anyanwu also urged the students to take full advantage of the academy’s facilities, experienced faculty, media internship opportunities and industry exposure, noting that commitment, discipline and professionalism remain essential for building a successful broadcasting career.
The newly admitted students were enrolled on professional courses including Broadcast Production, Broadcast Presentation, Broadcast Journalism, Broadcast Engineering, Media Marketing, Digital Studio Management and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The academy runs seven specialised departments: Presentation, Production, Broadcast Engineering, Journalism, ICT, Marketing and Digital Studio Management.
Anyanwu reminded the students that beyond technical competence, broadcasters are expected to maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate responsibility, integrity and respect in the course of their duties.
Members of the academy’s administrative and management team also charged the students to maintain good behaviour, professionalism and strict adherence to institutional rules and regulations.
