Dogged human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for prioritizing housing for judges over essential public servants like doctors and teachers.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, March 14, 2026, Sowore accused Wike of neglecting resident doctors, claiming the minister relies on foreign medical practitioners instead.

“Criminal politician Nyesom Wike never built duplexes for FCT resident doctors because he doesn’t need Nigerian doctors; his doctors are in the UK,” Sowore wrote.

He also alleged that teachers were overlooked because Wike’s children do not attend schools in Nigeria, while duplexes for judges are being constructed allegedly to influence judicial decisions.

“But he is building duplexes for judges because he needs them to subvert the course of justice,” Sowore added.

The post has sparked intense debate on social media, with Nigerians divided over the minister’s priorities. Wike has not yet responded to the criticism.

Earlier, human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju also warned that Wike’s public display of welfare for judges could undermine judicial independence. Adeyanju argued that while judges’ welfare is important, constant political fanfare risks creating the perception that the judiciary is beholden to political power.

Wike recently announced that the Abuja Court of Appeal complex would be completed by May 2026. The housing project includes 10 duplexes for the Federal High Court, 20 for the FCT High Court, and 10 for the Court of Appeal.
