Julius Berger records major progress.

There is growing excitement among residents of Warri and Effurun as Julius Berger Nigeria Plc nears completion of the Warri Roads and Flyovers project.

Two of the three major flyovers — Enerhen and DSC — have reached 99 per cent completion, with only final road markings outstanding, while the PTI Flyover is about 95 per cent completed.

Across the twin cities, the progress has generated optimism, with motorists, traders and business owners reporting improved traffic flow in areas where construction has advanced significantly.

A motorist, Mr Sunday Oghenekevwe, said the project is already easing movement and reshaping commercial activity even before its final handover.

A real estate agent, Mr Kingsley Ejiroghene, noted that the infrastructure upgrade is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth by improving logistics, reducing travel time and boosting investor confidence in the region.

The Project Technical Manager, Mr Ghadi Mansour, confirmed the latest status on Wednesday, noting that structural works on the Enerhen and DSC flyovers have been completed.

According to him, the PTI Flyover is also approaching its final stage, with a few structural components and finishing works remaining.

Mansour said only road markings were outstanding on the DSC and Enerhen flyovers.

He said: “On the percentage of the flyovers completed so far, we have completed 99 per cent on both DSC and Enerhen flyovers with only road markings remaining. As for PTI, the flyover is 95 per cent completed with some finishing works and road markings still to be done.”

Despite the progress, Mansour said construction was continuing on sections of the connecting roads and underpasses, adding that the three flyovers remain on track for full completion by the end of March.

The Warri/Effurun Roads and Flyovers project is one of Delta State’s most ambitious urban infrastructure initiatives.

Approved in September 2023, the project was awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to ease traffic congestion, modernise major corridors and enhance mobility across the Effurun–Warri axis.

It includes three flyovers at DSC Roundabout, PTI Junction and Enerhen Junction stretching to Marine Gate, as well as extensive road expansion, slipways, pedestrian access improvements and stormwater drainage upgrades aimed at addressing long-standing traffic and flooding challenges.

By late 2024, construction on all three flyovers had reached between 80 per cent and 95 per cent completion, driven by an accelerated work pace and cooperation from host communities.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has received praise for advancing large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at modernising the state’s transport network.

The near completion of the project is widely regarded as a major milestone in the administration’s broader development agenda.

With the Enerhen and DSC flyovers virtually completed and the PTI structure entering its final phase, Warri and Effurun are expected to benefit from smoother traffic flow and expanded economic opportunities once the project is fully delivered.
