Arrest suspected thug

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a suspected thug, Auwalu Ali, also known as Auwalu Dan Daba, over his alleged involvement in organised thuggery and violent attacks on residents.

The command said the 26-year-old was arrested on January 31 by officers attached to the Dorayi Division, following what it described as credible intelligence on his activities.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, said Ali was believed to have been coordinating groups to attack and rob members of the public in parts of Kano.

“In a decisive operation based on credible intelligence, police officers attached to Dorayi Division apprehended a notorious thug, Auwalu Ali, popularly known as ‘Auwalu Dan Daba’, who has been coordinating and organising thuggery groups to attack and rob innocent citizens,” the command said.

In a related development, the police said officers from the Sharada Division responded to a distress call in Sharada Quarters, where a suspected armed robber was lynched by a mob after an attack that left a female victim critically injured.

“The victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a police officer selflessly donated blood, thereby saving her life,” the command said.

Commending the officers’ conduct, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised their professionalism and sacrifice, particularly the blood donation, and thanked residents for their continued support and cooperation.

Bakori urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, while warning against mob action and jungle justice.
