Gombe govt announces 10-day deadline for land recertification

*Threatens land revocation

The Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) has announced a final 10-day deadline for land owners in the redesigned Shehu Abubakar District to complete recertification and collect their allocation letters.

Speaking to journalists, GOGIS Director General, Kabiru Usman Hassan, warned that failure to comply within the period will lead to forfeiture of the land.

He explained that the exercise followed the revocation of Rights of Occupancy in the former BAP 4 Layout under Executive Order No. 007 of 2024, paving the way for land reforms and the redesignation of the area as Shehu Abubakar District.

According to the DG, documentation and verification commenced in September 2024, while issuance of new allocation letters began in November 2025, with priority given to individuals affected by the revocation.

The extension, approved by the Gombe State Government will run from January 5 to January 16, 2026, and applies only to eligible allottees who took part in the earlier verification exercise but could not complete the process.
