The Chairman of the Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has donated two patrol vehicles to the Police Tactical Team within the council.
Animashaun said on Monday that the gesture was to further empower the police with a view to strengthening the security apparatus in the area.
Speaking at the council secretariat in Ita-Marun, Epe, she said the vehicles would enhance police operations by combing notorious areas that could serve as hideouts for hoodlums.
Handing over the vehicles to the Commander of the Police Tactical Team, Animashaun commended the police for their work, emphasising that security remains the heartbeat of her administration.
“Epe council is known to be one of the most peaceful councils in Lagos State, and in a bid to sustain this feat, the present administration deemed it fit to donate the vehicles to the police to strengthen its security mechanism.
“There is no way the council would have enjoyed this level of peace without the police, and I am convinced that the Force deserves more support to continue to achieve the desired results.”
Responding, the Commander of the Tactical Team, CSP Nosa Igbineweka, expressed appreciation to the chairperson for the intervention, describing it as a rare benevolence.
He noted that the vehicles would significantly boost patrol coverage, response time and operational efficiency.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. I will ensure that these vehicles are adequately used to curtail criminal activities in the state,” he said.
