An Ile-Ife Magistrates’Court on Wednesday, remanded Adewoyin Wole, 33 and Godwin Sunday, 25, over alleged assault in the Nigeria Correction Centre, Ile-Ife.
The Prosecutor, ASP James Obaletan, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 17, around 10:00 am at Ifetedo in Ife South Local Government.
Obaletan said that the defendants conspired together to wit: assault and breach of public peace.
He added that the defendants assaulted one Adegbite Adijat and Oyeleye Oluwasegun by using fist blow on them.
According to him, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The Prosecutor stated that the offence contravened sections 249(d), 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, who were not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to three-count charge of: conspiracy, assault and breach of peace.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi did not grant bail to the defendants, but ordered for their remand in the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre.
She adjourned the case until April 7 and to be mentioned at Ifetedo Magistrates’ Court.
