My father wants to cajole me, but I stand firm, Asake debunks rumours

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding his father’s public plea for financial help.

In a subtle reaction, the singer took to music on Friday via his TikTok account to express his thoughts, stating that he has always supported his father but would not succumb to manipulation.

“You can’t please the world. Whatever you do, do it for God and always remember the day you’ll die and meet your God. My people, can you see how it’s going? Even my father wants to cajole me, but I stand firm and they can’t off my light. I used to press money for him and I do it with one mind. If you strike, I will move on. No one can quench my fire. God is the one that is taking me ahead in life,” he sang in Yoruba, addressing the situation in a song.

Following a viral video where his father, Babatunde Ololade Odunsi, claimed he had been abandoned since suffering a stroke, Asake responded in a song, implying that he had done his part in supporting his family.

“I used to press money for him, and I do it with one mind. If you strike, I will move on. No one can quench my fire. God is the one taking me ahead in life.”

Meanwhile, actor and singer Adams Kehinde, known as Lege Miami, disclosed that Asake’s father reached out to him, lamenting his financial struggles and ill health.

“Asake, your dad called me this morning. He said it’s not about the money you want to give him; he said you shouldn’t worry. He called you because he is not feeling well, and you have not been answering his calls,” Lege Miami stated.

“He told me he always goes to the General Hospital for treatment because he doesn’t have money. He said the last time he saw you was three years ago. He also mentioned that you bought him a car and rented an apartment for him, but now he is sick, needs to pay rent, and take care of himself.

“He said he no longer has the strength to work and pay his bills, which is why he came online,”* he added.

Asake, who gained recognition in 2020 with his viral song “Lady”, shot to fame in 2022 after releasing “Omo Ope”, featuring Olamide, which led to his signing with YBNL Nation and later left in 2025.
