Man, 47, arraigned over alleged breach of peace

A 47-year-old man, Ebenezer Adeosun, who allegedly threatened to kill one Mr. Christian Okeke, through diabolical means, on Monday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate, Mr. L K.J Layeni, on a count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 3 at the Shibiri area of Ojo.

He alleged that the defendant had engaged in a scuffle with Okeke, the complainant.

He told the court that in the ensuing disagreement, the defendant allegedly threatened to terminate Okeke’s life through diabolical means.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged threat by the defendant, sent panic and fear to the complainant, who consequently reported the case to the police, alleging a threat to his life.

The offence, he said, contravened the provision of Section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Magistrate Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned the case until March 7 for mention.
