ICRC urges states to adopt PPP for advance infrastructure development

State governors have been charged to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drive to bridge the infrastructure gap across the country through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

The Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh, gave the charge in Abuja after a meeting with the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The governor visited the Commission on a private visit to the DG to discuss key Public-Private Partnership projects being undertaken by the state.

Speaking after the meeting, Ewalefoh said that the current administration was committed to collaborations that would bring about improved infrastructure for Nigerians. He stressed that the governor’s visit was strategic and a testament to the governor’s vision of attracting private financing to Ondo State.

He further stated that the meeting was part of the ICRC’s efforts to forge collaborations between the national and sub-national levels in delivering infrastructure for Nigerians.

He enjoined other state governors to emulate the governor by collaborating with the Commission to advance their PPP endeavours, adding that the ICRC was ready to provide support and guidance.

On his part, the Ondo State governor commended the Commission for the good work it was doing in regulating and advancing PPPs across Nigeria.

He stated that Ondo State was looking to deliver the Deep-Sea Port project through the regulatory guidance of the ICRC and assured that he was willing to follow the Commission’s guidance and processes to ensure the project’s success, as it held tremendous prospects for the state and the country.

He commended the Director-General’s exceptional leadership and the remarkable progress achieved, calling it a game-changing and motivating experience that had made a significant impact in a short period.
