Okpebholo seeks judiciary support to develop Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called for a synergy between the executive and the judiciary to develop the state.

The governor, while receiving delegates from the judiciary led by the Chief Judge of Edo, Justice Daniel Okungbowa in the Government House, said it was impossible for the executive arm to solve all the problems in the state without synergizing with the legislature and judiciary to develop and grow the state.

Okpebholo also called on the three arms of government to synergize and ensure the State’s rapid development under his administration.

Governor Okpebholo said the legislature has been very cooperative, especially with regards to the Appropriation Bill, ensuring its passage for the benefit of the people.

He urged the judiciary to equally follow suit, ensuring it collaborates with his administration to ensure justice is delivered in order to propel the growth and development of the State.

“Today, I am happy to see the Chief Judge and members of the judiciary. Yes, we have challenges in Edo State, and the executive cannot solve them alone as we need to synergize to develop and grow the state.

“I need synergy between the three arms of government, the executive, legislature, and the judiciary. The executive arm of government has worked with the legislature.

The legislative arm is doing well as they honoured the requests in the budget, supplementary budget, and other requests we made. They helped us to make the process easy.

“I welcome you all to Government House today. This visit is long overdue because in my inaugural speech, I said I would collaborate and work in synergy with the three arms of government, especially the judiciary.

“When I didn’t see the judiciary I was afraid, but I am happy now that you are here on this courtesy visit. As a parliamentarian, I know what other State governors go through, but the way they open their arms to receive me, I am very happy. I believe the Judiciary will do the same, starting from today.

“My drive is to develop Edo State. We will build on our educational system and improve on it. We will do the same to the Judiciary to ensure that the Judiciary also succeeds in their activities.

“Synergy between the executive and the judiciary is very important, and I commend the Chief Judge for the visit. Inclusiveness in governance is very important. I urge you to support the administration to enable us to succeed because to be successful, it will be a collective decision to carry everyone and the State forward,” Governor Okpebholo said.

The Chief Judge said they were committed to delivering justice to the people.

He noted that they were in Government House to familiarize with the Executive and assured Governor Okpebholo that the Judiciary will work with the Executive and Legislature to develop the State and ensure the people enjoy good governance.
