Be tenacious in upholding rule of law, SAN admonishes lawyers

A legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Emeka Ozoani, has admonished lawyers to be tenacious in upholding the rule of law in the course of discharging their professional duties.

Ozoani, in his goodwill message, said as promoters of the rule of law, lawyers should not be deterred by economic obstacles nor succumb to threats from any quarter. He said in the course of professional duties, lawyers face some challenges but by training as legal practitioners, they will be able to scale through.

According to him, “As we step into the year 2025, it is my earnest wish that we attend the year with good health and optimism. As promoters of the rule of law, and while discharging our professional duties, we all witnessed some challenges but by our training as legal practitioners, we were able to scale through.

“I want to use this medium to commend our steadfastness and uprightness: we were not deterred by the economic obstacles nor threats from any quarter(s). The Legal Profession is the noblest, and that is a fact that needs not much emphasis and as professionals we are the number one in the defense of the rule of law.”

He further stated that, as a lawyer, “the unpretentious and vocal voice of the vulnerable, the succour to hopeless and hapless in the society: the burden placed on us by the country is more than we presume, it is on this premise that I salute you all.

“The year 2025 will certainly come with its ups and downs, but we can only seek the face of God Almighty to have a blessed, and prosperous 2025.”
