The Ajah community in the Eti-Osa Local Council of Lagos State has strengthened ties and extended a hand of fellowship to its neighbouring Ilaje and Egun communities.
The community also reaffirmed its commitment to preserving historical ties and fostering harmony with the visiting settlers. Leading the reconciliation visit, the Baale and Olomodi of Ajah, Chief Ismail Adeleke Adamson, Ojupon VI, described the move as a step toward strengthening bonds between the communities while promoting peaceful coexistence. The visit also coincided with the community’s yearly Unity Carnival, featuring the second edition of the Ajah Indigenous tournament, a funfair for the children, and other festive activities. The Indigenous tournament, a friendly football competition among the 52 families in the community, concluded with the Afinni family emerging victorious with a cash prize of N200,000, a trophy, and medals. The Alayande family claimed second place, earning N150,000, while the Ologbin family secured third place with N100,000 and medals for their efforts. Speaking at the event, the Secretary of the Ajah community, Kazeem Odunlami, noted that the large turnout at the event reflected the unity within the community. He praised the Baale for his visionary leadership and commended the contributions of both indigenes and non-indigenes, acknowledging their collective efforts in making the event a success. Odunlami urged all community members to continue living in peace and harmony while exploring avenues to further develop their society.
