The Edo State Government on Monday assured the people of the state and developers whose landed properties were illegally taken or destroyed of compensation by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The government said it was aware that the previous government acquired some community lands and properties without compensation.
The Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, stated this at Evboikole in Uhummwode local government area of Edo State during a thank you party for the people of Uhunmwode in appreciation of their support.
Osagie said the government is already righting the wrongs of the past government to ensure harmony in the state.
According to Osagie, “there are so many landed properties of Edo citizens who have worked hard and invested in the state that were forceful acquired without compensation.
“This administration is going to make sure those property owners are compensated while those that need to be released will be released to their owners.”Osagie assured the people that the present administration would look into all the complaints and make sure that those who need to be compensated get what is due to them as no one will be left unattended to.
He stated that every Edo person will get justice in the state, adding that “My ministry will provide the legal services to the government to make sure justice is delivered.
“My ministry will provide the legal advice to the governor to ensure governance has a human face where there will be no oppression and vitimanisation in the state.”
Also speaking during the thank you party, the member representing Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon constituency in the House of Representatives, Billy Osawaru, informed the people of Uhunmwode to forget the past and work together to make the local government great.
The lawmaker promised to ensure that what is due to Uhunmwode people gets to them just as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Washington Osifo appealed to the people of Uhumwode to join hands together to make the local government great again.
Osifo urged that the division in Uhunmwode LGA should stop, warning against action capable of setting back the local government council.
