LASG to prosecute residents for breaking govt seal

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it would prosecute the occupants of a property in Abule Egba for removing a government seal placed on the building.The building, located at 43, Adetoun Crescent, off Olaniyi Street in the area, was earlier sealed by the government for improper discharge of wastewater into the environment.

According to the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office re-sealed the property on Tuesday “for unabated discharge of wastewater onto the road and breaking of government seal.”

“All arrested offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the law. The agency reiterates its commitment to ensuring compliance with the prevailing environmental laws of the state,” the commissioner wrote on X.com.

On Monday, Wahab disclosed that, following a public complaint, the government sealed off a fast food outlet, Cravings & More, located along Egbeda-Idimu Road, for illegally discharging fats and oil from their kitchen into the public drainage system.The commissioner revealed in a statement that the eatery’s improper waste disposal had caused blockages in the drainage system and led to the emission of foul odour.
