Kwara CJ frees three inmates

During Custodial Centre Visit
Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, on Tuesday released three inmates from custodial centres in Ilorin. The release took place during his visit to both the Old Ilorin and New custodial centres at Okekura and Mandala, respectively. The visit was part of a jail delivery exercise aimed at reducing overcrowding in the state’s correctional facilities.

Justice Adebara, accompanied by Hon. Justice Ibijoke Olawoyin, State High Court Registrar Mrs. Kudirat Yahaya, and other stakeholders in the criminal justice system, reviewed several cases and freed the three inmates. The Chief Judge emphasized the importance of jail delivery, which allows for the release of inmates involved in minor offenses, those with terminal illnesses, or individuals whose cases have been delayed for extended periods.

Justice Adebara encouraged the released inmates to avoid crime in the future, while expressing gratitude to the correctional service authorities for their support. The State Controller of Corrections, Danmairomu Shuaib Ayodeji, praised the Chief Judge’s efforts and advised the released individuals to maintain good behavior.
