Kwara Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, swears in six new judges for state High Court

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has inaugurated six new judges for the Kwara State High Court.

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, inaugurated six new judges for the state high court on Friday, calling on them to serve with “diligence, impartiality, and the overriding interest of the community and national security.”

The newly appointed judges are Ibijoke Olabisi Olawoyin, Fatimah Funsho Abdulrasaq, Oluwatosin Adenike Adeniyi, Yusuf Diko Adebayo, Olalekan Osuolale Ajayi, and Muritala Folohunsho.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House in Ilorin, the governor congratulated the judges on their appointments, noting it was the first time in Kwara’s history that six judges were sworn in simultaneously. “This makes a total of eleven High Court Judges that I have administered their oath of office within five years in office,” Governor Abdulrazaq said.

He praised the judges for their dedication, reminding them of the enormous responsibility they now bear to uphold justice in society. Citing the revered Usman Dan Fodio, Abdulrazaq said, “A kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure with injustice,” urging the judges to always act in the best interest of justice and fairness.

The governor also outlined his administration’s commitment to supporting the judiciary, highlighting the renovation of courts across the state and the ongoing reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin to serve as additional courtrooms.

In a show of support, Governor Abdulrazaq also presented new SUVs to the six judges, reiterating his administration’s commitment to ensuring a seamless working relationship between the executive and judiciary arms of government.

The Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, hailed the governor’s commitment to the rule of law and stated that the addition of the new judges would inject “new minds, new perspectives, and new energy to the state judiciary,” enhancing the speedy delivery of justice.

Justice Ibijoke, speaking on behalf of the newly appointed judges, pledged their commitment to upholding the ideals of justice, fairness, and equity while thanking the governor for his swift actions in ensuring their appointments.
