Corps members: Be good ambassadors of nation-building – Adeleke

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has called on the newly posted corps members in Osun to present themselves as good ambassadors of nation-building.

Adeleke made the call at the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2024 Batch B Stream II on Friday in Ede, Osun.

He urged them to show dedication and enthusiasm by leveraging the various training platforms available in their three-week orientation.

According to him, it is paramount for corps members to exhibit a high sense of responsibility and discipline throughout the orientation course and service year.

“Your actions and attitude reflect, not only on yourselves but also on the integrity of the NYSC and our nation as a whole.

“The orientation course serves as a foundation for your service year, equipping you with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve your country effectively,” Adeleke said.

He further said the government remained steadfast and committed to ensuring the safety of all corps members in the state.

Adeleke, however, urged the corps members to be worthy ambassadors of the state, whose hospitality had gone a long way to make them feel at home.

The State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Obim, praised the governor and the NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Yashau Ahmed, for their relentless support in all ramifications.

Obim admonished the corps members to work toward distinguishing themselves during the service year to benefit from the scheme’s system of rewarding hard work and diligence.

The youths, he said, should maximise the orientation exercises to foster unity, cultural exchange and patriotism among themselves.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 1,926 corps members across the country were posted to the state for their mandatory one-year service.
