Allegations rock 2024 NBA AGC sports events

Anthony Atata, Esq., the Chair of the NBA Annual General Conference Sports Sub-committee 2024, has issued a passionate apology to participants in the ongoing sports events, expressing his frustration and disappointment with the Conference Planning Committee’s failure to provide necessary funds.

According to the apology, Atata revealed that the sub-committee was unable to organize the Table Tennis events due to a lack of funding from the Conference Planning Committee.

He also mentioned a shocking incident at the end of the Scrabble tournament, which left him and the contestants traumatized.

Atata’s apology comes amidst allegations of a divide-and-conquer approach by “Madam B.”, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, who reportedly selected a few members of the Sports sub-committee to organize a table tennis competition at Ikoyi Club without informing the Chairman. This move has allegedly caused bad blood among the members.

A member of the sub-committee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, affirmed Atata’s position and criticized the approach adopted by Madam B., stating that she should have addressed the issues raised by Atata instead of causing further division.

Atata expressed his inability to accept responsibility for the unfortunate outcomes, especially in Scrabble and Table Tennis, as the sub-committee was ready to serve but did not receive the necessary support from the Planning Committee. He also apologized to colleagues who had signed up for the competitions and assured them that this incident does not reflect his reputation in sports.

The Chair called for the Conference Planning Committee and the NBA to take steps to redeem prize monies, emphasizing that the integrity of sports tournaments lies in giving out prize monies immediately after any competition at the venue. He vowed to continue pushing for participants to receive their prizes for the events that were successfully held.

This incident has brought to light the need for better coordination, communication, and financial support within the NBA AGC’s organizational structure to ensure the smooth running of future events.
