NBA 2024 AGC: Lagos to showcase culture, history

The Lagos State Government is set to host a Special Lagos Day during the 2024 edition of the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2024, is expected to take place at a specially built marquee, within the conference venue at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, from 11 am.

In a statement on Sunday, the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), expressed excitement at the opportunity to showcase the state’s rich heritage and innovative strides at one of the largest gatherings of legal professionals in Africa.

“Special Lagos Day presents a unique opportunity to highlight the culture, history, and traditions that make Lagos truly special, while also demonstrating our achievements and future projects. We are proud to host this event and look forward to giving attendees an authentic Lagos experience,” Pedro said.The NBA Annual General Conference is expected to host legal practitioners, industry leaders, judges, technocrats, and entrepreneurs from across Nigeria and beyond.

The statement noted that attendees would be offered an immersive journey through Lagos’ culture and achievements.

“From captivating cultural displays featuring traditional music, dance, and the iconic Eyo masquerade parade, to exhibitions of historical artifacts and photographs depicting the old and new Lagos, attendees will witness the state’s dynamic evolution.

“In addition to the cultural showcase, the event will feature an exhibition of Lagos State Government’s major initiatives, accomplishments and ongoing projects,” the statement added.

The conference, which started Friday, August 23, will last till August 28, 2024.With the theme, ‘Pressing Forward; a National Posture for Rebuilding Nigeria,’ sessions of the conference will hold at the Eko Hotel & Suites as well as the Tafawa Balewa Square, both on Lagos Island.
