Cardi B has filed for divorce from her husband, Offset. The news was confirmed by the Grammy-winning rapper’s representative to Page Six.
According to the report, Cardi B is seeking primary custody of their two children, 6-year-old Kulture and 2-year-old Wave. The representative did not provide any additional details. But a source disclosed that divorce is not because of the latest rumours of Offset’s infidelity.
“They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else,” the insider claimed. “This is something she wants to do.” The source added that Cardi’s main priority is “obtaining primary custody” of their children.
The couple’s relationship has been rocky since the start. There have been consistent rumours of Offset’s alleged infidelity. Just this week, the Migos rapper denied the latest cheating allegations. This was after he was spotted publicly with a woman he had apparently dated in the past.
Cardi, 31, and Offset, 32, have had an on-and-off relationship. Cardi has previously filed for divorce in 2020 before they eventually reconciled. However, it seems that this time, Cardi is determined to go through with the separation.
A representative for Cardi B confirmed to the Associated Press that her decision to divorce Offset “is not based on any one particular incident. It has been a long time coming and is amicable.”
Offset’s recent cheating scandal
News of Cardi B filing for divorce is coming shortly after an Instagram account shared a photo of her husband Offset at a casino with his ex, Big PrettyRedz.
This obviously started cheating rumours, but Offset denied any wrongdoing in an Instagram live video, stating “Shorty ain’t my shorty.”
When a celebrity gossip account shared the Live video, Offset commented, defending himself by saying he was at a public casino gambling with a married, 8-month pregnant woman, and asked what it would look like for him to be publicly cheating.
This divorce filing will be Cardi B’s second attempt to end her marriage to Offset. In 2020, she filed for divorce, citing that she didn’t want to wait for him to cheat again or get involved in another controversy.
However, they reconciled after Offset promised to work on himself, which Cardi said showed her he wanted to change.
In late 2023, Cardi announced they had split again, telling fans she had been single for a while and wanted a “fresh start” in 2024.
Yet, they were spotted together at a Met Gala afterparty in May, and
Cardi later confirmed they were working on their marriage, saying they are best friends who love each other, and it’s hard to walk away from that support system.
