Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Garki Branch Chairman, Obioma Ezenwobodo Esq., has emphasized the need for greater cooperation between the Bar and Bench to uphold ethical values in Nigeria’s legal system.
Ezenwobodo made the appeal on Tuesday at the Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria (MAN) Week holding in Abuja. With the theme “Judicial Ethics in Challenging Economy,” this year’s conference focuses on strengthening integrity in the judiciary amidst tough economic realities.
While declaring the event open, the legal practitioner stressed that collective effort is required from all key players to safeguard ethical standards and justice delivery.
“A strong synergy between Magistrates and Lawyers is imperative for embedding principles of fairness, accountability and transparency across the sector,” Ezenwobodo affirmed.
Other speakers included Hon. Justice Akeem Fashola of FCT High Court and Dr. Sirajo Yakubu, HOD Public/International Law at Nile University.
The weeklong capacity building program brought together FCT Magistrates, senior advocates, academics and civil society actors to formulate strategies for reforms.
