Lagos State High Court will proceed on its annual Christmas vacation from Friday, December 22, 2023 to Monday, January 1, 2024.
This was announced in a statement by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba. He said the vacation period was approved following Order 49 Rules 4(C) and 5 of the High Court of Lagos Civil Procedure Rules 2019.
Justice Alogba however noted that arrangements have been made by the court to attend to urgent cases during the vacation.
According to him, each judge will handle urgent applications related to substantive suits already assigned to them. Any fresh urgent suit will be assigned to a designated vacation judge.
The Chief Judge reiterated that judges can still sit on urgent cases during the vacation once statutory conditions are met.
The Lagos High Court will resume duties on January 2, 2024 after the New Year holiday.
Justice Alogba wished all judges, court staff as well as lawyers a merry Christmas and prosperous year ahead.
