THE Osun State House of Assembly continued investigations into allegations against the Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, on Tuesday with the appearance of the Chief Registrar, Ishola Omisade.
Omisade was accompanied by some magistrates and 12 judiciary staff members before the legislative committee probing the petitions against Justice Ojo. The team faced questioning by lawmakers behind closed doors.
This comes as the protest by Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) members paralyzing activities at the State High Court in Osogbo continued for the second day over demands which the union hopes will be addressed in a meeting with judges on Wednesday.
JUSUN Chairman Gbenga Eludire expressed optimism that the scheduled deliberations will yield positive outcomes. The union has crippled court sittings in solidarity with other judiciary workers supporting the Chief Judge.
Meanwhile, members of the dissolved State Judicial Service Commission alleged they were arbitrarily removed by Governor Ademola Adeleke four years before expiry of tenure just to enable replacing the Chief Judge.
But the State Information Commissioner insisted the matter is already in court hence they should await the verdict rather than preempting the judicial process. The lawmakers’ interactions with judiciary management staff continues.
The Assembly is racing against time to conclude investigations into various allegations and petitions against Justice Ojo who JUSUN and other activists insist is being victimized.
