The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Kehinde Osinaike, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to conclude the processing of applications for Planning Permits within 10 working days.
Osinaike, however, said this is provided all necessary documents required for the processing are made available at the point of registration, according to a statement on Monday.
He reiterated this commitment while handing over a planning permit to the Chief Executive Officer of Prestigious Homes Limited, Mr Akintola Oladejo, for the development of his proposed building project at Banana Island.
“The permit was processed within four working days by the Eti-Osa District Office of LASPPPA,” the statement said.
Osinaike was quoted as saying, “Voluntary compliance to physical planning permit laws comes with considerable benefits such as saving time that would have been used in coming to resolve issues when sanctions are imposed on non-conforming properties, saving applicants the psychological trauma experienced when properties without planning permit are sealed up.”
He added that voluntary compliance also saves costs that would’ve been used in paying penal fees when such are imposed for noncompliance.
Also speaking, one of the directors of the agency, Kikelomo Ashogbon, outlined some of the causes of delays in the processing of planning permits to include incomplete documentation at the point of application, inability to pay tax, engagement of third parties and engagement of the services of louts among others.
The recipient of the permit expressed his delight at the promptness of the processing of his application.
He said, “The prompt response has debunked the belief by members of my association, the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, that planning permit applications cannot be processed in such a short period.”
