Lagos Airport: Keyamo denies ordering demolition of private hangars at MMIA 2

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has denied reports that he gave orders for the demolition of private hangars at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Two (MMIA 2), Lagos.

A report by a digital media outfit said Keyamo ordered the Dominion and EAN hangers at the MMIA 2 in Lagos to be demolished with immediate effect.

It was stated that Keyamo, who gave the order on Thursday, August 31, when he visited the Lagos Airport during his facility tour, said the demolition would make way for airport expansion.

But in his reaction to the report, Keyamo denied ever giving such an order, describing it as incorrect.

“This is not correct,” he wrote on his X handle.

“No demolition was ordered. We have only told Nigerians the private hangars that are preventing Nigerians from using the new terminal and that we will engage the owners on their eventual relocation.”

Keyamo was one of the 45 ministers President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sworn in on Monday, August 21, at the presidential villa in Abuja.

He served as the minister of state for labour and productivity under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
