The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is pleased to announce the reconstitution of the Nigerian Bar Association Human Rights Institute (NBA-HRI) Board, pending ratification by the National
Executive Committee (NEC). This momentous development aims to strengthen the institute’s commitment to safeguarding human rights and promoting justice in Nigeria.
The reconstituted board consists of esteemed legal professionals and experts from various backgrounds, bringing diverse perspectives to the institute’s activities. Heading the board is the distinguished Mr. Chinonye Obiagwu, SAN, whose expertise and dedication to human rights advocacy make him an excellent choice for the role of Chairman.
Other prominent members of the board include Mr. Olawale Fapohunda, SAN, Mr. Usman Ogwu Sule, SAN, Prof. Joy Ezeilo, SAN, and Mrs. Linda Rose Bala, all of whom have remarkable records in championing human rights causes.
Additionally, the board comprises seasoned individuals with exceptional contributions to academia and social justice, including Prof. John O. Akintayo, Dr. Moses Arome, and Kazeem Olaniyan, PhD, among others.
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, expressed his gratitude to all board members for graciously accepting their roles and responsibilities. He emphasized the critical role the NBA-HRI plays in advancing human rights and ensuring equal access to justice for all citizens.
Pending NEC’s official ratification, the reconstituted board will work tirelessly to address pressing human rights issues and provide valuable insights on legal matters that affect the lives of Nigerians.
