NLC president, Ajaero, reacts to fire outbreak in Lagos home

President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joseph Ajaero, has expressed gratitude to God for saving the lives of his family members following a fire outbreak at his Lagos home last week.

That the entire building was razed to the ground without anything salvaged. The mystery fire, according to sources, started from the roof with a strange noise that family members said they initially took for foraging domestic animals.

However, minutes after, the sources said the building exploded in a ball of fire, as members scampered to safety with their belongings on their back.

It was gathered that not even the prompt response of members of the community and fire brigade could save the situation. Ajaero was away in Geneva, Switzerland, at the just-concluded International Labour Conference (ILC), when the incident occurred. He has maintained reticence since returning to the country.

When pressed for comment, Ajaero said he gave glory to God, as no life was lost. Asked if it was a hit job, he said his work as President of the NLC comes with a lot of risks, but refused to be drawn into speculations about who may be after him. Meanwhile, none of his family members was willing to speak on the matter.
