Sokoto: Gov Aliyu revokes land allocations, dissolves board appointments

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, on Tuesday, revoked all land, housing allocations, dissolved boards and terminated civil service and traditional rulers appointments recently made by the immediate past administration in the state.

The governor, according to a statement made by his Press Secretary, Malam Abubakar Bawa, noted that appointments made by the outgoing government after March 19, 2023 governorship elections were all affected.

He said the renaming of tertiary institutions and related appointments to their governing councils, as well as relocations announced by the immediate past administration, were nullified.

According to him, affected institutions are to revert to their former names and locations.

” All recent appointments of traditional rulers, made by former Gov. Aminu Tambuwal are hereby suspended and will be reviewed in due course in the public interest.

” All local government sole administrators/ caretaker committees recently appointed by the immediate past administration are hereby dissolved, ” Aliyu said.

He directed the Directors of Administration of their local government with immediate effect.

He added that all governing boards of parastatals other than statutory boards are hereby dissolved with immediate effect.

The Governor noted that all wasteful and unnecessary auctions of government assets are hereby suspended and will be revisited in due course.
