Tribunal grants C’River PDP gov candidate, party permission to inspect election materials

The Cross River State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has granted the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ojang Onor and the PDP the permission to inspect election materials used for the polls on March 18.

The order was granted based on an application filed by the party in petition No: EPT/CR/GOV/03M/2023 and dated April 4, 2023.

The petition has as 1st respondent the Independent National Electoral Commission; Sen. Prince Bassey Otu (2nd); Peter Odey (3rd) and the All Progressives Congress (4th) respondents.

The tribunal is headed by Justice J.O. Okeya-Inneh and two others.

In the motion ex parte filed on April 4, 2023, the petitioners sought orders, which include, “An order directing the 1st respondent in this application; that is, the Independent National Electoral Commission, to allow the parties herein to jointly inspect all the electoral materials used in the conduct of the election for the office of the Governor of Cross River State held on the 18 day of March, 2023; to wit, voters’ register, ballot papers, polling units result sheets, wards collation results sheets, local government collation results sheets and declaration result sheets.”
