The Shangisha Landlords Association has called on governor of Lagos State,
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to obey the Supreme Court judgment after 13 years and return their land.
Chairman of the Association, Chief Adebayo Adeyiga, in a statement, yesterday, said since the governor has decided to right the wrongs his administration metted on citizens, this was the time to obey the Supreme Court judgment and put an end to the injustice. The association appealed to Sanwo-Olu to use this period to release “our land and serve justice to a case that has lingered for 35 years. We believe that if he will do this, then history will be charitable unto him.”
“The Governor has ordered release of impounded vehicles, payment of pensions and has also commenced personal visitations to markets, churches and malls to make himself accessible to the public. “In same light, the Governor told the world in our meetings with him that he will release our land to us but unfortunately,
after the meeting we had with him what we saw was that same government returning back to the Supreme Court,” the association said.
