Return to music, release new album, fans beg Davido

Pop star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is one entertainer who has passionate and loyal supporters across the globe.

By virtue of his engaging and charismatic personality, he also has a vibrant social media presence.

When he lost his only son, Ifeanyi, on October 31, 2022, it evoked grief from millions of people, who sent an avalanche of well wishes to him and the boy’s mother, Chioma.

However, since that sad incident, the If singer has taken a break from social media.

He only made a brief return on December 18 and 19, 2022, before and after his spectacular performance at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Together with two other artistes— Trinidad Cardona (USA) and Aisha (Qatar)— they had recorded the football tournament’s theme song, Hayya Hayya (Better Together).

He first posted a picture of him getting ready for the show, while Chioma adjusted his clothing. The picture was ‘liked’ by a record 2,032,394 people. The next day, he posted pictures of him on stage with other artistes. Those pictures attracted 1,383,551 likes.

However, that has not been able to assuage the thirst of his fans; many of who have been imploring him to return to social media, and release new music.

Recently, some of the singer’s fans took to the streets of Lagos to stage a ‘protest’, over his absence from the music scene and social media.

Another fan draped in a white cloth also went on the street, carrying what looked like a sacrifice in a bid to hasten the singer’s return to the entertainment scene.

The calls for his return have intensified because the singer had earlier stated that he would return to the public space in March (this month).

Sometime ago, the singer’s logistics manager, Isreal DMW, had hinted in a now-deleted post that the former would soon release a new album.

Some weeks back, Davido was also in the news when he gifted a commercial tricycle driver N1m, when a video of the latter’s tricycle bearing different pictures of the Dami Duro crooner surfaced online.

Providing comic relief, a skit maker, OGB Recent, also posted a video of him

driving a tricycle that was splashed with Davido’s pictures.
