IPLA endorses Peter Obi for presidency

*Says his qualities stands him out from other candidates

A group of lawyers under the umbrella of the “Imo Progressive Lawyers Association” has endorsed the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi. This came after it issued a circular on Wednesday, 22nd of February 2023.

The President of the Association, Chris Okeke, Esq, has noted that the choice of the Labour Party flagbearer came after a careful deliberation during it’s special meeting held on the 14th of February 2023 amongst it’s several members where issues were discussed. In it’s statement, the President emphatically stated that the principles of Competence, Character and Capacity which Mr. Peter Obi embodies stands out amongst other reason for it’s choice. He stated that:

“IPLA unanimously adopts the tripartite ethos of Competence, Capacity and Character echoed by many well-meaning Nigerians and popularized by the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party”.

“Having examined the manifestoes of all the presidential candidates of the various political parties, IPLA hereby unanimously endorses the candidacy of the flagbearer of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

“This endorsement stems from the collective belief that he best represents the transformation of the Nigeria so badly needs today. We hereby call on all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, gender, religion or colour to come out on Saturday, 25th February 2023 and cast their votes for the most competent candidate”.

The Imo Progressive Lawyers Association is an association of progressive minded Imo born lawyers resident anywhere across the federation, it is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission with the motto, “maka odi nanma ndi imo”, which literally means: For the good people of Imo State and Ndi Igbo. The organization is focused at responding to issues affecting good governance and justice in both Imo State and Nigeria in general.

Finally, IPLA calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and all security agencies to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and their candidates during the general elections.
