Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, a legal luminary, Cecil Ezem Osakwe and the immediate-past President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata and current President, Yakubu Maikyau, were among those that were honoured with the award of excellence in leadership by the newly inaugurated Nigeria Bar Association, Garki branch, Abuja.
The legal luminary, Osakwe, who received the Award for Excellence in the Real Estate Sector, according to his citation, “has vast experience in the real estate business which has spanned over 30 years.”
The citation added that Osakwe, a consummate real estate developer who has developed properties both in the united state , London and Nigeria “builds luxurious properties for high brow clients in the choicest location around the globe.”
Osakwe is a Harvard trained lawyer and businessman and the chairman and CEO of his group of companies which include CEO Associates & Projects Ltd, Interproject Associates Limited, Alkire Partners Nigeria Limited, Abeh Signature Ltd and Ezem Osakwe & Company.
He is also a philanthropist who has impacted millions of people within and outside Nigeria.
The event that attracted legal practitioners, senior advocates, captains of industry, and the crème de la crème of society, witnessed the recognition and the giving of awards to some distinguished Nigerians who have excelled in their respective fields. At the award night, Maikyau, the current president of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), received the Award for Dynamic Leadership, while the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, was recognised for his Excellence in Governance.
Akpata, the immediate past president of the NBAwho served from 2020 to 2022, was commended on how he handled various issues that affected the Bar.
