The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has convicted and sentenced three men, Olukoya Adeyemi, Qoreeb Fujah, and Olayinka Olatunji, to various jail terms for job scam and cybercrime.
Justice Uche Agomoh convicted Adeyemi and sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment on amended two counts of employment scam.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission stated this in a statement on Wednesday by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
The anti-graft agency said the convict had swindled his victims out of N2m under the pretext of securing jobs for them with the Nigeria Customs Service.
Upon his arraignment, he pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him.
Subsequently, the prosecution counsel, Chidi Okoli, prayed the court to convict and sentence him as charged.
Justice Agomoh thereafter sentenced Adeyemi to two years’ imprisonment and ordered that restitution be made to his victims.
Also, Fujah and Olatunji were arraigned, convicted and sentenced on separate charges of Internet fraud.
They pleaded guilty to the charges.
Consequently, the prosecution counsel, Abdulrasheed Suleiman, prayed the court to convict and sentenced them.
Justice Agomoh convicted and sentenced Olatunji to one-year imprisonment and Fujah to six months’ jail term.
