Chairman, Cubana Group, Obinna Iyiegbu, has said the firm plans to develop a new smart city project in Abuja to bridge the housing gap in the country.
He said the new project would employ youths through direct means and engage professional architects, engineers and other consultants through an open engagement process.
In a statement, Iyiegbu stated that the partnership between Casa Cubana, owned by the Cubana Group, and Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Limited, is expected to deliver the project, The statement said it would offer prospective subscribers global standard residential assets that guarantee work, live and play benefits in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The project, ‘Hill City Community housing,’ is a mixed housing project designed to provide about 10,000 units of residential assets for low and middle-income earners, civil servants and others who are desirous of quality accommodation.
The Hill City project is located in a secured environment with proximity to the Abuja Airport and other major destinations within the Federal Capital Territory.
The mixed housing development, comprises five Bedroom Detached Duplex with two Bedroom Boys Quarters (BQ); four Bedroom Detached Duplex with attached Bedroom BQ, three Bedroom Detached Duplex; a three Bedroom Semi-Detached Duplex; two Bedroom Semi Detached Duplex and a two bedroom Terraced Duplex.
Infrastructures expected include, central sewage system, water system, inner roads, parking lot, security, constant power supply and others.
According to him, affordable housing is a major concern for most residents of Abuja, adding that the new Smart City is carefully planned and designed to address the challenges of quality housing at affordable flexible terms.
Iyiegbu said the firm was determined to create jobs for youths and also solve the problem of affordable housing for the majority of Nigerians who are negatively affected by housing shortages across the country. He further disclosed that similar projects are being planned for Enugu, Lagos, Akwa and Anambra states.
