The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has been admitted as a member of Africa Journals Online, AJOL. The statement read as follows
Dear Colleagues,
You may recall that one of the items on the Terms of Reference of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Bar Association upon its inauguration at the inception of the Olumide Akpata-led Administration, was to publish a world-class journal befitting of the Nigerian Bar Association as a major contributor to legal knowledge on the African continent, and indeed the world at large.
After the publication of Volume 11 of the Journal last year, the leadership of the NBA is pleased to announce that the Nigerian Bar Journal, has been admitted as a member of Africa Journals Online ("AJOL"). AJOL is the world's largest and pre-eminent collection of peer-reviewed African published scholarly journals based in South Africa with the primary objective of making research work of African origin available to African academics and the global academic community at large.
What this means for us as an Association, is the opportunity to export to a global audience, the scholarly opinion of our members whose articles, case commentaries or statute reviews get published by the Editorial Board of the NBA as they'll be available on the AJOL platform for a global readership, starting from the upcoming Volume 12, thereby projecting the image of our Association, as well as the professional profiles of our published members.
The Journal has received a "Working Towards JPPS Stars" rating by the Journal Assessment Office which will be reviewed from time to time.
The NBA commends members of the Editorial Board led by Professor U.U. Chukwumaeze, SAN and Mr. Raymond Nkannebe as the Board Secretary, who took it upon themselves to ensure that we're able to achieve this feat after a very long onboarding process.
Contributing to legal scholarship and pushing the boundaries of the global legal jurisprudence forms part of our corporate social responsibility as lawyers, and the NBA urges members to take advantage of this new window to engage a wider and more critical global audience.
