There are fears that the N100b Calabar/Itu road project may not be completed before the end of the current administration.
The former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Ita Enang, disclosed this on Friday during an inspection tour of the dualised Calabar/Odukpani/Itu/Ikot Ekpene federal road with journalists.
Enang, who said each of the roads have their completion period because they were not awarded at the same time, promised that a greater part of the project would be completed before the end of the present administration.
The former aide to the President, who disclosed that the cost of the entire project is N185b, said N77b was awarded to SERMATECH, N54b to Julius Berger, while N50.2b was awarded to CECC.
Reacting to allegations that the Cross River axis of the road has been abandoned, Enang who said he was speaking in the capacity of the Legacy Team and initiator of the dualisation of the Calabar/Odukpani/Itu/Ikot Ekpene federal road, said the first and second were being constructed and contractors are actively working despite the rains.
