African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District, Dele Williams, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the Electoral Act 2022, saying it will make the 2023 general elections better than the previous ones.

According to him, the new electoral law prevents politicians from jumping from one party to another after losing out in the primaries.

During a press briefing in Lokoja, at the weekend, Williams admitted being a beneficiary of the Electoral Act 2022, as many politicians from other parties tried to snatch his mandate but could not because of the new law.

Despite the woeful failure in security and increase poverty, he praised Buhari for the new electoral law, calling for its sustenance.

The lawyer said people like him, before now, would not have been given any chance in the political space, expressing confidence that, with the new electoral law, politicians would find it difficult to buy the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their selfish interests.

The senatorial hopeful said the Electoral Act ensured that the primaries of many political parties saw the fall of some regular politicians, and applauded the absence of “perennial candidates” of Kogi West in the race.

Looking forward to the 2023 general elections, he expressed optimism of winning, with the deployment of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

ADC, for him, has a good chance in 2023, pointing, as the will of the people will prevail.

Kogi West is now wiser not to trust the regular political parties, which have disappointed them over the years with failed promises, he added.

He disclosed that the ADC “is setting standards” and working hard to meet the yearnings of the people, where the major parties failed woefully.
