Hydro Power Producing Area Development Commission (HYPPADEC), in collaboration with a private firm, will construct new homes for the people living in riverine communities usually affected by floods across the six HYPPADEC states.
The firm, New Approach, in its ‘Rescue Village’ scheme, has worked out modalities to construct new houses in Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Kebbi, Benue and Plateau communities.
Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Abubakar Yelwa, at a press briefing in Minna, Niger State, explained that the firm would flag off the scheme with the construction of two villages in each of the six states.
He added that New Approach would extend the establishment of more villages in the 1,801 riverine communities in the six states.
