Kwara arrests 200 metropolis sanitation law violators

The Kwara State has apprehended about 200 residents for immediate prosecution following incessant violation of the state Environmental Sanitation Laws.The state Commissioner for Environment, Remilekun Banigbe, stated this on Saturday while monitoring the monthly exercise in the Ilorin metropolis to ensure compliance.

A statement by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Okanlawon Taiwo, noted that every citizen of the state has a role to play in ensuring the success of the programme. She added that the sanitation laws governing the state should be strictly obeyed.

Taiwo added, “It is the duty of every citizen of the state as an inhabitant to always take total responsibility for their environment. All we are asking for is to give the ministry this last Saturday to observe the monthly sanitation for the benefit of individuals and the state at large.

“Those apprehended today will be sanctioned according to the law, and it will serve as a learning point. Let’s take care of the environment instead of constituting a public nuisance.’’

On his part, the commissioner lauded the efforts of the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in making the state a haven for all.

She also commended efforts of the working team for being part of the exercise, urging it to sustain the support.
