As the election continues in Ekiti State for who becomes the next governor in the state, some voters were seen speaking up against vote-buying.The voters said they were not illiterates and that they were not ready to sell their votes and conscience for money in the state anymore.
“Vote-buying means selling your conscience. We don’t want to sell our conscience again! We are determined in Ekiti State, no vote-buying again.
“Ekiti State is a state of professors,” one of the voters, Mr. Kolawole Olatunde said while speaking to Channels Television.
“Aa dibo ka se obe,” another woman said in Yoruba Language, meaning, “We are not selling our votes to for pot of soup.”
The election has recorded good turnouts as people were seen to have trooped out in their numbers to elect the candidate of their choice.
The is as Independent National Electoral Commission has said that accreditation of voters would end by 2:30 pm.
