A three-storey building, on Tuesday, collapsed at the popular textile market, Kantin Kwari, killing one person, while an unspecified number of others were said to have suffered varying degrees of injury.
The Public Relations Officer of the state fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said one of the victims had already been confirmed dead, two trapped, while two others suffered injuries.
He said the agency received a distress call around 2.30pm that the three-storey building under construction collapsed.
Abdullahi said, “The first and second floors of the building were already completed, while the third floor, which was under construction suddenly collapsed, resulting in the collapse of the completed first and second floors.
“Our firefighters mobilised and rushed the victims to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where one was confirmed dead by doctors on duty.”
